Project Objectives:
Upgrade the existing Ethernet 10 mbps LAN to Gigabit Ethernet for all the
employees (about 35). Backbone will be either a fiber-optic 2 gigabit/s, or a
CAT6 cable. Including the purchase of a corporate, ASIC-based, Layer 3
switching router (this to avoid to overhaul the network in three years) and 3
switches (one per each floor). Estimated cost: $30,000 for hardware and parts; $
7,000 labor |

Approach: · Hold
another meeting to decide if the backbone will be on fiber optic or CAT6 · Develop
detailed cost estimates for project and report to CIO · Send
a RFP to the major brand names · Use
internal staff as much as possible for installing the new 35 NICs and the
cables |
